Cloud's EthnicityFollowing on from The Sweet Escape’s thread, which is now locked for some reason (welcome to the forum, “Sweetie”), I would say that Cloud looks fairly half Filipino/half white to me, but what you said about the Chinese thing may have some truth to it.There are a minority of people in the Philippines who have mixed Filipino/Chinese blood due to the Chinese trading with the Philippines for a few centuries and some Chinese people settling there and intermarrying with Filipinos. The people who are descended from this mixture of Filipinos and Chinese are called Chinoys. So if you can see what you think are Chinese traits in Cloud, who knows, you could be right and Cloud could have some distant Chinese blood in him! If you’re right, that’s well spotted. But I look at him and he seems half Filipino to me with the skin colour. |
