london (and paris) calling...

Hi all..

I need a favor from the londoners and well traveled people out there. I'm doing a research on london tube stations and paris metro stations that integrate building/urban development into the design. I've done some research and found canary wharf as the closest example to what I am looking for. Rockafeller Center is another example, but its in New York. Would any of you know more similar tube/metro stations in london and paris that you could suggest?

Thanks,
daydreamer

I will try and help you out with the London side.

There is the new Wembley Stadium station (which is finished although the stadium isn't) which will look like this:

Then Paddington which incorporates Victorian architecture:

Or Waterloo which does the same thing

Also the Heathrow stations are part of the Terminal designs and sit underneath them.

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. If I think of anymore I will post them.

Hope that helps you out.

Awesome!! Thank you soo much Zerocool! Very Happy It absolutely helps! Very Happy Very Happy

My research primarily focuses on recent contemporary developments that incorporate the tube/metro, mixed use buildings, and train stations. So if you do come up with any, that would be great! I'm also looking into contemporary building developments that don't necessarily include the tube or transportation system. Any contemporary building attractions you could recommend?

Thank you again! I really appreciate your help. Very Happy

Wannabe

I'm confused can you explain more of what your looking for.
Is it the design of the Station kind of fits in with the area?
Or are you just looking for modern disasters that defy all character?

Sorry this is probably some project for you but if you make it clear I'll gladly help.

A very delayed response....my apologies

Thanks for being thoughtful in wanting to help Ryan and Wannabe. That's just one of the reasons why I like this forum so much! Very Happy And again Zerocool, thank you thank you thank you Wink

The research went well, I think. It was a travel itinerary for some clients who had made plans to visit those cities. The crazy thing was the timeframe that they allotted for the research, so it was really helpful for the quick responses. Thank goodness for internet!

So now that I have a list of must see metro lines/stations and buildings, I should also make use of it and revisit these cities myself!...lol

cheers.
